Swarm Removal

How to Report A Swarm for Removal

swarm@2x.png

Swarming is a natural event for honeybee colonies. Typically, it is how colonies divide and reproduce. However, they don't always swarm in the most ideal places. To keep swarms from causing alarm, we safely capture and relocate the swarming bees to a new home. We recommend letting a professional beekeeper capture swarming bees. They are stinging insects and should be handled with care.

Reporting and removing the swarm is a time-sensitive process, so it’s best to have these details handy:

  • Your contact information—provide your name, phone number, and email for a DCBA member to reach you

  • Location of the swarm—provide the nearest street address and any specific directions to reach the swarm

  • Photo of the swarm—provide a photo to help visualize the size of the swarm and its condition

Report a honeybee swarm sighting to DCBA and a member will follow up with you shortly.
